Part of our curriculum includes the study of Asia. I teach the Japan unit to all 120 first graders. They felt so horrible after the devestation of the earthquake and tsunami. We decided to have a bake sale.
Well, we had it today and we raised $590.00. Six of my students took money out of their piggy banks and donated it to the sale--without taking any baked goods. I am overwhelmed with pride for these darling children. They have learned a very important lesson this week and they now know that being little doesn't matter. Little kids can still make a difference in this world of ours.
