Meet the Teacher

Authors' Tea

We had our Authors' Tea on Friday.  It was just a fabulous event that every single parent but one attended. This is the bulletin board we made for the event.  Children drew themselves and then put a book (the one they read at the Tea) in their hands.  Isn't it darling?  I just ADORE self-portraits.

Here are a few research posters.  A few kids chose to share these at our Tea instead of a published book.

  1. Hi There! I was wondering if you would share more about your author's tea. I having been thinking about doing something like that in the future. Thanks so much for your help and for sharing all of your wonderful ideas!!! :)

  2. Our Authors' Tea is celebration-- Think coffeehouses where people share poetry, songs, etc. Each child chooses a piece that represent their best writing and shares it with parents, siblings and the class. (I save all of their writing from the year) After each child shares, parents write comments on comment sheets about the craft of writing and what the child did exceptionally well. We have juice, tea, treats. I love coming together to celebrate writing. Our class culture is such I have more parents attending this than Field Day.

  3. Thank you SO much for sharing! I'm going to try it out next year! Thanks again!

    Amy :)

  4. I'm doing a linky party with bulletin board ideas. I would love for you to add this post!
