Meet the Teacher

Apple Day

Apple Day is so exciting!  I had TONS of fun things planned and I am excited to share them with you, too!  Apples are such a great topic to teach because we can integrate all subject areas and even do some taste testing.

On Apple Day, we invited students to wear plaid shirts and jeans.  When they got to school, they kicked off their shoes to look like Johnny.

We made these sweet pot hats and proudly wore them all day.

I love to incorporate videos into my lessons to give students a real-world view and tap into multiple learning styles.

Here are a few videos we watched:
Way Up High in anApple - Apple Song for Kids - Children's Song by The Learning Station
Planting an AppleTree with Harry Kindergarten!

After exploring the outside and inside of an apple, we made these adorable 3D apple diagrams complete with labels of the parts of an apple.

This is from my Apples Bulletin Boards resource on TpT.

Next, students wrote acrostic poems about apples and made this craftivity.

After apple tasting, we made glyphs about apples using this key:

Then, we made a graph showing our favorite way to eat apples.
This graph {and the glyph} are included in my Apple Follower Freebie resource.

After that, we had STEM time.  We wanted to launch pieces of apple.  The students did SUCH an amazing job collaborating, communicating, using compassion, critical thinking and creativity!

We ended our day painting apple prints.  It was messy, but the students adore paint so it was worth it.

What a fabulous, busy day!  It was jam-packed fun {and exhausting for me} but hearing, “This is the BEST day ever” made it so worth it!

Please let me know what you think!  I would love to know what you do to celebrate apples in your room, too. Also, be sure to subscribe to my blog so you get all the updates and freebies in my newsletter!
